Davao Light employees celebrate early Christmas with two foundations supporting children

"The greatest gift you can give someone is your time".

The popular quote was put into application as Davao Light and Power Co. employees from the Retail Services Group namely the Customer Retails Services Department (CRSD) and the Revenue Management Department (RMD) celebrated an early Christmas with the Padre Pio Home for Children and the Field of Dreams Children Charity Foundation last November 19, 2016.

During the visit, the Davao Light team donated hygiene kits and goodie bags filled with candies for the young boys and girls.

The donation came from the employees' own pocket as part of their annual tradition to share and give back during the Christmas Season.

Both of the institutions that were visited are dedicated to rebuilding the lives of young boys and girls. Padre Pio Home for Children provides the basic needs and education to youngsters with the help of the Apostles of Jesus Crucified Sisters and under the guidance of social worker, Gladys Malibagos.

On the other hand, the Field of Dreams Children Charity Foundation, which is headed by George and Lalaine Cabalhog, is a non-profit organization that provides education, talent enhancement, guidance, shelter and food for young boys to keep them out of the streets.

To express their gratitude, the children from Field of Dreams Children's Charity Foundation warmly welcomed the team by playing rondalla and a song and dance presentation.

We gave our time and some gifts but the children gave us more. They showed us that in spite of the challenges that they have experienced, they found meaning in their life and a place that they could call a home.” said Arnold Arsolon, Davao Light AVP for RSG.

The RSG team also visits IP communities to donate school supplies and foot wear for the children, and teach proper hygiene to families.
