DENR Region XI celebrates World Wetlands Day at the Cleanergy Park
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region XI office celebrated the World Wetlands Day last February 3, 2017 at the Cleanergy Park, an Aboitiz-owned outdoor biodiversity learning center and pawikan sanctuary located in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City.
Celebrated annually every 2nd of February, World Wetlands day aims to raise awareness about wetlandsand promote its importance and value to humanity.
With this year's theme, Wetlands for Disaster Risk Reduction, DENR highlighted the significance ofwetlands as safe guards that help in reducing the impact of natural disasters such as flooding caused by storms, and storm surges.
During the event, Davao Light's Community Relations Manager Fermin Edillon, welcomed the employees of the DENR Region XI office. He also gave a brief orientation about the Cleanergy Park and toured them around after. Development Management Officer III of DENR XI Marigelaine V. Arguillas also gave a brief talk about the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands to the participants.
