Davao Light extends service to 80 households in Purok Nalumville, Brgy. Baliok

“We never had electricity for 13 years, until today. I am very thankful and glad because my child can now study well at night and we will no longer have fear going home late as we will now enjoy the convenience of having electricity.”

This is what Marilou Mancao has said being one of the 80 beneficiaries of the electric service extension of Davao Light and Power Co. at Purok Nalumville, Brgy. Baliok, Talomo District, Davao City.

The line extension was made possible through the project Oplan Kahayag, which is a joint venture between Davao Light and Congressmen Koko Nograles and Karlo Nograles. This aims to provide electricity in areas of urbanized barangays which still do not have access to electricity. And more importantly, it aims to avoid illegal tapping of power which is prone to accidents such as fire.

Through Oplan Kahayag, electric poles were installed free-of-charge to lit up Purok Nalumville.

After the necessary installation works were completed, a ceremonial switch-on last May 2017 was conducted. Present during the ceremony were 1st District Congressman Koko B. Nograles and Davao Light's EVP and COO Engr. Rodger S. Velasco. Also present to witness the event were some Davao Light employees, and Brgy. Baliok officials and the beneficiaries of the project.

“It is great to see how happy the beneficiaries are now that they will start enjoying the benefits of having electricity. I would also like to thank the officials of Brgy. Baliok for providing the necessary requirements essential in this project.” said Engr. Velasco.
