Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku bags 1st place in Davao Light's 4th Short Video-Making Contest

Students from the Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku or Mindanao International College won 1st place in the annual short video-making contest of Davao Light and Power Co., Inc., a subsidiary of the AboitizPower. This year’s theme is Dare to be Aware: Electrical Safety, which is aimed at amplifying the public’s awareness on electrical safety.

A total of 39 1-minute videos from various universities and colleges within the Davao Light franchise vied for this year’s contest

The awarding ceremony was held at the Cinematheque Davao last September 13. Awards were given to the top 3 videos and consolation prizes to the top 7 videos. Special awards were also given to the Best Actress, Actor, and Poster.

 

This year’s winners are the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) for their video entitled Yes, Ma, which won third place, followed by the video entry ‘Di Takot, also from the AdDU, that got the second place. The best video was given to the entry Safety: Make It A Habit from the Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku. This is the first time that students from the Mindanao International College participated in Davao Light’s short video-making contest. These video entries won PhP15,000, PhP25,000 and 45,000, respectively.

Meanwhile, the top 7 video entries were Backtrack from the University of Mindanao (UM), Cada's Tips from the Asian International School of Aeronatuics and Technology, Rush by the UM, Note by the AdDU,

4 from AdDU, Unplug For the Ones You Love by the AdDU, and Short Circuit also from the AdDU. The winners received Php5,000 each.

Aside from these schools, there were also entries from the Davao Doctors College, Jose Maria College, Christian Colleges of Southeast Asia, University of the Immaculate Conception and University of Southeastern Philippines – Sto. Tomas External Studies Program.

Present to grace the event are Davao Light’s EVP and COO Rodger S. Velasco and AVP for Reputation Enhancement Rossano Luga together with some executives and managers. AboitizPower VP for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Marco Carlos and Commission on Higher Education Supervisor Dr. Nelia Alibin were also present to grace the event.
