Davao Light and DENR XI sign a MOA for communication equipment support for Mt. Apo and Mt. Hamiguitan

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) and its social development arm, Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. signed a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Natural Resources (DENR) XI for the provision of communication equipment for the patrollers of Mt. Apo, the highest mountain and one of the most popular nature-based tourism sites in the country, and Mt. Hamiguitan, a mountain located in the province of Davao Oriental and home of endemic flora and fauna species.

The communication equipment of two-way radios for short and long range use will be donated by Davao Light and Aboitiz Foundation. These will greatly benefit the forest rangers in the mountain.

Bagani Fidel A. Evasco, Regional Executive Director (RED) of DENR XI, said that the radios will help the foresters of both Mt. Apo and Mt. Hamiguitan to communicate with each other since there are dead zone spots in the forest and mountain slopes.

Signatories of the MOA were Davao Light President and COO Rodger S. Velasco, Apo Agua Operations Head Shake A. Tuason, and DENR XI RED Evasco. Also present during the August 3 MOA signing were DENR Assistant Regional Director Mercedes V. Dumagan, DENR-PENRO of Davao del Sur Officer-In-Charge Pablito M. Ofrecia, DEPUN Protected Area Superintendent of Mt. Hamiguitan Cunt Michael B. Cleofe, PA Su MANP Officer-In-Charge Joel S. Pardillo and DENR-PENRO of Mati Davao Oriental Officer-In-Charge Alberto N.
