Three engineers of Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) were accorded as ASEAN Engineers after being included in the prestigious ASEAN Engineering Register (AER) highlighting their expertise, experience, and contributions to the Electrical Engineering field.

Engrs. Virmel Dabon, Jonel Padillo, and Richard Regidor earned the recognition to be part of the ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Engineering Register (AER) after satisfying the qualifications and standards in their professional field. Conferred by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO) Governing Board through the Philippine Technological Council (PTC), the title recognizes them as globally competent engineers.

The AER is an official list or directory of engineers across the ASEAN region. Among the objectives are: to promote recognition and safeguard the professional interest of engineers, foster high standards, and promote cultural and professional links among its members.

“Becoming an ASEAN Engineer connects professionals to a broader network of engineers across the ASEAN region,” shares Engr. Dabon. “This gives opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in Electrical Engineering. This also opens opportunities for partnerships, resource sharing, and collaborative innovation, which I can bring in for Davao Light.”

The three are the second group of Davao Light engineers to achieve the distinction, bringing the number of ASEAN Engineers in the power distribution utility to eight.

“We are proud of our ASEAN Engineers. Their achievement is also our achievement. It reflects their excellence and reinforces our commitment to keeping the highest standards of engineering practice,” said Davao Light Head Engr. Enriczar Tia.

“It motivates me to stay updated with advancements in my field… the process of obtaining and maintaining the ASEAN Engineer title encourages ongoing professional development and lifelong learning,” added Engr. Dabon.

The three honorees have proven their competence in their respective fields of specialization: Operation and Maintenance of Transmission and Distribution Systems for Engr. Dabon, Utility Regulatory Compliance for Engr. Padillo, and Electrical Network Protection for Engr. Regidor.

“With experts in Davao Light, we can assure our customers of world-class service,” added Engr. Tia.

Davao Light, an AboitizPower subsidiary, aims to empower and add value to the communities it serves by providing tools, services, and keys to efficiency and well-being, which will bring about development in its franchise area, which covers the cities of Davao and Panabo, and the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali, and Sto. Tomas.
