1. Initial Assessment- The applicant must undergo an initial assessment to determine the feasibility of installing DER by submitting a letter of intent (LOI) to the DU. The LOI must include information about the total DER capacity, Single Line Diagram (SLD), and location of the DER. The DU will conduct pre-evaluation to determine if the distribution network can accommodate the connection of the DER.
   
   The applicant will be informed if they have passed the initial assessment and will be required to submit necessary documents for the DU’s conduct of Distribution Impact Study.
   
   
2. Distribution Impact Study (DIS) - The DU will conduct a DIS to determine the impact of the DER installation on the distribution system.
   
   Depending on the results of the DIS, the DU may also conduct a Distribution Assessment Study to determine the additional assets needed to support the connection of the DER.
   
   
3. Energization Requirements - Once the DIS and DAS (if applicable) are complete, the applicant will be informed of the interconnection requirements for the energization of their DER installation.
   
   
4. Renewable DER Supply Agreement - The applicant will need to complete the Renewable DER Supply Agreement.
   
   
5. Final Inspection - Upon applicant’s compliance with the Interconnection Requirements, the DU will conduct final inspection and install bidirectional  meters and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) meters. The applicant will then coordinate with the DU for the conduct of the functionality tests to ensure that their DER installation is working properly.

Professional Electrical Engineers Roger Alinsub, Edward Cantero, Joel Deguito, and Dennis Rupenta, earned the ACPE title after satisfying the qualifications and standards set by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries. This title under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recognizes their expertise, education, licenses, and experiences in electrical engineering, across the ASEAN States for government-related undertaking.

Engr. Cantero said the achievement “is a testament to years of hard work, commitment to excellence, and passion for engineering. Being an ACPE offers new opportunities, respect, and recognition internationally.”
