Davao Light turns over AGAPP school building to Tacunan Kinder students

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI) formally turned over an Aklat Gabay at Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Day Care Center last August 24, 2016 for the kinder students of Tacunan Elementary School (TES).

This one unit two-classroom school building completes the Davao Light's commitment, which was signed into an agreement in 2011, to build classrooms for learning for the AGAPP Foundation chaired by Pinky Aquino-Abellada.

Present during the turnover were the AFI EVP and COO Augusto Carpio III, Davao Light EVP and COO Arturo Milan and Davao Light team leaders, TES Principal Wilma Acog with her faculty and staff, and the kinder student-beneficiaries together with their parents of the AGAPP school building.

AGAPP Coordinator Jocy Ledesma, Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ma. Ines Asuncion, and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as represented by Chairperson of Committee on Education Councilor Pila Braga also graced the unveiling of the 1-unit two-classroom kindergarten building.

We thank the foundations involved in assisting our children's education. I am very grateful for this because education is one of the priority project areas of this new administration. May you not get tired of helping the children of our country.” said Mayor Duterte-Carpio in her speech that was delivered by Councilor Braga.

I've always believed that education is the key to success and the start of this journey is the most crucial of all. We in Davao Light together with the Aboitiz will continue to support programs that would further improve the country's education making a better future for the children of today.” said Milan.

Since 1996, together with the Aboitiz Foundation, Davao Light has already donated a total of 44 school buildings equivalent to 134 classrooms. Nine of these buildings with a total of 18 classrooms were for AGAPP benefiting to around 1,350 kinder students in a year.
