Another set of pawikan eggs discovered at Cleanergy Park

The team of Fermin Edillon, DavaoLight and Power Co.'s Community Relations Manager, found another pawikan nest last January 25, 2017 at the Cleanergy Park, Sitio Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City.

The pawikan nest was already expected after the discovery of the first nest last January 10, 2017. A female pawikan usually lay eggs three to five times in a two-week interval during its mating season.

The second batch of eggs will be transferred to the hatchery to keep them safe from both natural and man-made risks. These eggs are expected to hatch between the 3rd and 4th week of March 2017.

Though it is not yet determined as to what type of turtle species it belongs, based on history, it is believed to be a Hawksbill turtle.

The same mother pawikan is expected to lay her 3rd batch of eggs after two weeks.
