Started in 1994, the Panabo Branch of Davao Light and Power Co. Inc. celebrates its founding anniversary every September. This year marks the 28th year of the distribution utility’s lone branch serving areas in Davao del Norte.
The sea cucumber puti-an, scientifically known as Holothuria scabra, is currently an Endangered (EN) species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List because its populations face a high risk of extinction in the wild. The risk is primarily attributed to overfishing because of its high value in the fishing trade.
To support the Welfare Action Foundation of Davao, Inc., also known as Boystown Davao, Davao Light and Power Co. Inc. and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. turned over nearly eight million pesos worth of renovated and refurbished facilities to Boystown Davao on September 10, 2022 at Maa, Davao City. The mentioned non-profit organization provides basic education and skills training to boys from poor families.
“I am always thankful for the privilege of being able to study as a full scholar during the pandemic,” Trisha Joyce Amban, an indigenous scholar of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU)-Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue (MICD), said in an interview.
