Privacy Talks: Davao Light strengthens data security with NPC Chief
To further enhance its employees’ awareness on data privacy, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light), an AboitizPower subsidiary, invited the Chief of the Compliance and Monitoring Division of the National Privacy Commission (NPC), Atty. Rainier Anthony N. Millanes to talk about the Data Privacy Act of 2012, or “An Act Protecting Individual Personal Information in Information and Communications Systems in the Government and the Private Sector, Creating for this Purpose a National Privacy Commission, and For Other Purposes.”
Davao Light heightens electrical safety awareness through Construction Worker’s Day
Amidst various workplace safety hazards construction workers face, electricity is one common but imperceptible danger present. When neglected, these safety hazards can cause electrocution, fire, or worse, death.
Thus, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light), further amplified its electrical safety campaign through its Construction Worker’s Day held on October 14, 2023, at Brgy. Gov. Paciano Bangoy gym in Davao City. With the theme, Enhancing Electrical Safety Awareness to Reduce Public Electrocution Cases, the event was brought closer to barangays where construction works abound.
Engineer innovates through AI, wins International Award
A quiet man with a few words, Engineer Mark Anthony Catalan is notable for the projects and innovations he has contributed to the AboitizPower subsidiary, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light), in the 15 years he has worked in the power utility company.
His name is often heard around by his peers in the engineering department, as his unique and innovative way of thinking has left a mark on the company. He is often seen tinkering around on his computer, busy with his new projects.
His most recent accomplishment to date, along with Aboitiz Data Innovation Pte. Ltd. (ADI), is winning the Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2023, an international award, for his Project A.I. CU (“I see you”). Similar to a feature on Facebook, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) application scans the images taken of different assets of Davao Light and matches them according to their Compatible Units (CU).
